Winter! You wouldn't know it so far. Warm, sunny days; cold, crisp nights. Any moment now I'm sure the weather will break, and by the time you're reading this it probably has..
Vintage 2010 in the Margaret River wine region was a beauty. Long warm days and cool nights made for the perfect ripening conditions for those little berries sitting out there on the vine. Well those little berries are safely tucked away in tanks and barrels now and slowly turning into wicked drops of wine for our enjoyment, later...
Here's a bit of our latest news...
Gary V (the Vayniac)
Chief Exec Brad was lucky enough recently to be invited to join legendary American wine reviewer Gary Vaynerchuk for dinner at Longrain in Sydney. It was a whirlwind 24 hour trip for CEB at the end of vintage but well worth the effort. Aussies may not have heard much about Gary V but he has enormous reach in the US through his Wine Library TV series and books and speaking engagements. Wine Australia (the Australian Wine Industry Marketing team) brought Gary out to Oz to impress upon him how good Aussie wine is, and invited a bunch of wine-heads to join him at various events. CEB was chuffed to be invited and said so: "I'm really chuffed".
The BIG Red Wine Book - it's big baby, big..
Another large win for WBB in this year's edition. Our 2008 wine by brad Cabernet Merlot was rated No. 18 in the Top 100 red wines under 20 bucks. That is a most pleasing result. Also, our 2008 Mantra Cabernet Sauvignon was selected as one of the best Cabs tasted throughout the year in the $21-$50 price bracket. Meanwhile the 2008 Mantra Shiraz also cracked a score of 90 big points to round out a successful listing. Lovely...
Max Allen on Funky Labels with Good Stuff in the Bottle
The Weekend Australian Magazine (Oct 3rd) featured a piece by Max Allen on some quirky labels in the marketplace that ALSO have great wine on the inside. Now who do you think that would be? ;-)

General Reviews of WBB & Mantra
These fun pop art labels have succeeded in attracting the 20-something drinker. The bold blackcurranty cab merlot and the crisp lemongrassy sem sav white blends are excellent examples of their respective regional styles.
Max Allen - The Weekend Australian - October 2009
(one of the) top producers in Margaret River.
Tyson Stelzer/Matthew Jukes - Taste Food & Wine 2009
I couldn't help but smile when I discovered Wine By Brad. This winery from Margaret River selects small parcels of fruit to present regional varieties and styles at approachable prices. No flash cellar door, just [cartoon-visaged] Brad and his website.
Stuart MacGill - Sunday Telegraph - July 2008
And the winemaker to watch for? Brad Wehr, who exemplifies the new breed of funky, irreverent winemakers with hip labels featuring the helpful message, "Chill it, crack it, chug it". He makes two - a semillon sauvignon blanc and a cabernet merlot - sold under the label Wine By Brad.
Sunday Times Hot List - January 2008
WBM has always said that Aussie winemakers should align themselves with other industries, such as music, but we think one Margaret River producer has taken the strategy to a new level. You Am I frontman Tim Rogers, who is a known winelover, was seen skulling directly from a bottle of wine by brad at a recent gig in Prevelly.
